From Harikrishnan’s inflatable balloon trousers to swirling shaped dresses in Comme Des Garçons’ Fall 2017 collection, everyone is after their memorable fashion moment that will go down in history, and the latest collection from Charli Cohen might just be her moment.
Introducing CHARLI COHEN x POKEMON, a fashion movement that breaks the mold of what fashion can be and enters a new dimension: the megaverse.
We’ve heard the buzzword of megaverse taking the world by storm, from NFTs to new currencies erupting in an alternate online world, and Charli has taken it one step further by launching her latest collection with none other than the video game icon, Pokemon, into the metaspace.
In an exclusive collaboration with luxury retailer Selfridges, the collection marks Pokemon’s 25th anniversary in a way that has never been done before. The online 3D collection launched in October 2021 and quickly garnered the world's attention, offering a new way to immersively shop.
Customers were invited to experience shopping in a new way, virtually exploring the collection through online streets, where you could shop the physical Pokemon line and a digital version of it too.
The collection includes physical garments featuring Pikachu, and Kaleidodrip, an exclusive Charli Cohen collection of four digital garments that you can wear using a body-tracking AR Snapchat lens or by making a customisable digital AR avatar - pretty cool.
‘We wanted to bring tech to streetwear,’ commented Cohen. “The physical collection is made in high-performance fabrics - including recycled ocean plastics and organic cotton - hand-finished in London with a fine-art-print process. And, when the accompanying QR code keyring is scanned, the pieces activate a Pikachu AR experience.”
